Privacy policy
HowMuchDoMoversCost.com is a set of free moving tools: a movers cost estimator, a truck sizer, a storage sizer and storage prices, a tool that prices things you want to sell, and a junk removal cost estimator. This page explains what we collect when you use them, why, and who sees it.
The short version
- You can use every tool without an account and without giving us your name, phone or email.
- What you enter into the tools, like ZIP codes and your list of items, is saved in your own browser so you can pick up where you left off. It is not sent to us unless a tool needs it to work.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
What we collect, and why
What you type into the tools
ZIP codes, home size, move date, and the items you pick are kept in your browser's local storage. The estimates are worked out in your browser. Clearing your browser's site data deletes all of it.
Photos and answers in the sell tool
When you use the sell tool (Sell My Stuff), the photos you take and the answers you give are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to identify the item and research what it sells for. We don't keep your photos. Anthropic deletes the data it receives within 30 days, or keeps it longer only when its safety systems flag it or the law requires it. Your finished listings are saved only in your browser.
If you choose to talk instead of type, your browser or phone turns your speech into text. Depending on your browser, that may be done on your device or by your browser's maker (for example Apple or Google). We receive only the text, never a recording.
Internet address, for limits and security
To stop abuse of the sell tool, we count requests from each internet address for one hour and then the count expires. Like any website, our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include internet addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Quote requests
Quote requests from movers and junk haulers are not open yet, so today we don't collect names, phone numbers or email addresses. Before they open, this policy will say what is collected, who receives it, and why.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the site for us:
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Anthropic, the AI provider for the sell tool.
- Upstash, which stores the request counts described above.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies and tracking
We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your internet address like any web request. Because we don't track you across sites, we don't change anything in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal; there is nothing to turn off.
Your choices
- Delete what the tools saved by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@howmuchdomoverscost.com.
Children
The site is for adults planning a move. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
When this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date at the top.
